Rolling Stones Jam Workshop with
JUSTIN SANDERCOE + PETE WHITTARD
(24th - 30th September 2017)
ABOUT THE COURSE:
The Rolling Stones Jam Workshop with JUSTIN SANDERCOE + PETE WHITTARD is a whole week dedicated to playing the music of the Rolling Stones. Pete was one of my (Justin’s) first teachers when I attended The Guitar Institute in 1996 and we became firm friends immediately! Pete played the Keith part in The Counterfeit Stones (THE Stones tribute band) for over 10 years, and I played the Brian/Mick/Ronnie part for 5 of those, so we’ve played Stones tracks together for easily over 1000 gigs!
We’ll be looking at techniques, tunings, guitar layering and 5 all time classics – most likely (but may change) the songs will be: Honky Tonk Woman, Brown Sugar, Gimme Shelter, Oh! Carol and Can You Hear Me Knockin!
You can expect 90 minutes group workshops with each tutor which will cover learning the songs and related techniques and concepts and then up to 2 hours jamming with our awesome drummer and bass player Guide and Gianluca. You'll be jamming with each other and us tutors and it's loads of fun!
Arrive Sunday 24th September 2017 and depart Saturday 30th September 2017

We will stay in three country houses that have been restored, with a mix of rural and modern feeling. Very cosy and confortable, with big rooms, stunning views on the countryside. Each house has its own swimming pool. We will have our classes and jam session in the large studio of the main house, free to play all day! Totally immerse yourself in nature and music.
If you miss “city” life, Sarteano, a medieval town with a beautiful castle overlooking Val d’Orcia, some cosy cafes and a lively market it is only 10 minutes away, and, as always, the most fascinating part of Tuscany is just around the corner: Montepulciano, Siena, Pienza, Bagno Vignoni and the Val d’Orcia. Meals, prepared by the Abbey’s chef, will also be at the house: full breakfast, buffet lunch and dinners.
ACCOMMODATION COSTS: Click here to go to the abbey's website.
TRAVEL INFO: Click here for information on how to get to to Abbey of Spiento.
Partners are welcome to join you!! While you will be working hard with Justin, there are many activities to keep them busy.
Beatrice at The Abbey can help you in organising guided tours, wine tasting, cooking school… you can just relax at the Hotel and use their services, or simply grab a book and lay in our garden by the pool, or take the car and explore Tuscany.
If you are into art: it is said that one fifth of the artistic goods in the world are in Italy, and most of these in Tuscany, we are 60 minutes from Siena, 90 minutes from Florence, 30 minutes from Montepulciano and many other jewels of the renaissance and middle age.
You should arrive at Abbey of Spineto BETWEEN 4 AND 6 P.M. on the Sunday of the beginning of your workshop (September 24th)
This will give you time to check into your room, relax and be ready for the first meeting at 6 p.m. where you will meet your teachers and fellow students. In case you prefer to arrive a day earlier (Saturday) to explore the area or just chill-out before the workshop start, just let us know so that we can reserve your room for that night also.
Departure is the following Saturday, after breakfast.
IMPORTANT: When booking your flight, make sure that you will arrive at your chosen airport not too late during the day as wherever you plan to fly to it will take 2-3 hours to get to the Abbey from the airport, and we have our first meeting at 6 pm!
